This role demands a blend of strategic foresight, technical acumen, and leadership excellence to shape how humanity interacts with technology by 2026 and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Conduct horizon scanning and trend analysis across AI, biotech, quantum computing, and sustainable energy sectors
- Develop 5-10 year innovation roadmaps aligned with 2026 Labs' mission to accelerate human progress
- Lead high-impact R&D initiatives including prototyping, pilot programs, and strategic partnerships
- Present future scenarios to C-suite executives and external stakeholders with data-driven insights
- Mentor cross-functional teams in agile innovation methodologies and future-thinking practices
- Secure and manage $2M+ annual innovation budgets for experimental projects
- Author thought leadership publications and represent 2026 Labs at global tech forums
Qualifications
- 10+ years in innovation strategy, R&D leadership, or futurist consulting with Fortune 500/tech scale-ups
- Advanced degree in Futures Studies, Systems Engineering, or related quantitative field
- Proven track record of launching commercially successful emerging technology initiatives
- Expertise in scenario planning, technology forecasting, and risk modeling methodologies
- Deep technical understanding of at least two emerging domains (e.g., generative AI, synthetic biology)
- Exceptional communication skills translating complex concepts for diverse audiences
- Published research or patents in innovation/futures domain (PhD or equivalent preferred)
- Experience managing distributed innovation teams across 3+ time zones
