Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for optimization and cryptography applications
- Develop error-corrected quantum processor architectures using superconducting qubits
- Lead cross-functional teams of physicists and software engineers in prototype development
- Publish breakthrough research in Nature/Science journals and present at IEEE conferences
- Secure $5M+ in government/industry grants for quantum computing initiatives
- Mentor PhD researchers and establish industry partnerships with quantum startups
- Define roadmap for quantum advantage in machine learning and drug discovery by 2026
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of hands-on quantum computing research experience with published papers
- Expertise in Qiskit, Cirq, or similar quantum programming frameworks
- Proven track record of building quantum error correction codes
- Strong background in cryogenic engineering and microwave control systems
- Experience securing NSF/DARPA grants or equivalent industry funding
- Deep understanding of NISQ-era limitations and fault-tolerant architectures
