Responsibilities
- Design and oversee the end-to-end system architecture for the 2026 Mars Mission, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance in extreme environments.
- Collaborate with propulsion engineers, AI specialists, and life-support teams to integrate complex subsystems into a cohesive platform.
- Define technical standards, coding protocols, and security frameworks to protect mission-critical data.
- Lead a team of senior engineers and systems integrators, conducting rigorous code reviews and architectural assessments.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for hardware-software integration challenges.
- Drive the migration of legacy systems to modern cloud-native microservices architectures.
- Present complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders and government liaisons.
Qualifications
- Masterβs degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity within the aerospace or defense industry.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale, high-stakes projects on time and within budget.
- Expert knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Strong understanding of real-time embedded systems, satellite communication protocols, and autonomous navigation algorithms.
- Familiarity with NASA or ESA engineering standards and safety protocols.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
