Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes to patient records based on clinical documentation.
- Perform regular audits of medical records to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and coders to clarify documentation and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilize coding software such as Epic or Cerner to manage patient data efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current coding guidelines and regulatory changes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior coders within the team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical coding (CPC or CCS preferred).
- Certification: RHIT, RHIA, or CCS-A is required.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHR systems.
