Responsibilities
- Design and implement quantum algorithms for practical applications in cryptography, optimization, and machine learning
- Collaborate with hardware teams to develop error-corrected quantum processors with 100+ qubit stability
- Lead research initiatives to overcome quantum decoherence challenges for 2026 deployment targets
- Publish breakthrough findings in top-tier journals and present at international conferences
- Mentor junior researchers and secure federal research grants for quantum innovation
- Develop quantum simulation frameworks to accelerate classical-quantum hybrid systems
- Partner with industry leaders to translate theoretical advances into commercial solutions
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, or Q#)
- Deep understanding of quantum error correction codes and fault-tolerant architectures
- Publication record in quantum computing or high-performance computing
- Expertise in quantum algorithm design for NISQ-era and fault-tolerant systems
- Strong background in linear algebra, probability theory, and statistical mechanics
- Experience with cryogenic systems and quantum control electronics preferred
- Ability to secure and manage DOE/NSF research funding
